USusally Ammonia comes into surface water via untreated wastewater or entrance of manure (field run off). considering wastewater: wastewater treatment with Nitrogen removal is pretty cost effective. - considering manure, simple changes in land use /manure management can be very cost effective (safety zones between surface water and manure applications, artificila wetlands with inbuild denitrification etc etc.
