Maximization of learning at PG level is becoming challenging in the present day context due to various socio-psychological reasons. Hence,we should start a dialogue on this issue.
We have created innovation pedagogy for the profile of our university. It has produced a lot of consultin, R&D projects, export of education and publications:
First of all, PG students are experienced enough to lead their own reading and highly motivated to learn and carry out research. However, there are some variations from culture to culture so they need some guidence initially. We should keep in mind that they are not totally independent of their supervisors. For that reason, they are not completely ready to throw into the swimming pool so that they can survive on their own. Even though they have full motivation, higher potential to learn and try more compared to undergraduate students, they should be guided and motivated and respected regarding what they have produced. Crisizing them harshly may demotivate and discourage them towards their study. In my field (teaching English), I also expect them to have one or two year experience so that what they read in theory will either guide them for better or challenge their beliefs and ideas to create awareness and hopefully lead to some positive change. As for socio-psychological reasons, they should learn to disregard any kind of distractors in the society and their private lie. Otherwise, they will lose their focus of study and be diverted to do other things like politics or other social movements.
