I am asking this in relation to practice in active learning in physics education in context of Nepal's education system where we highly focus on content based and rote learning.
one of the vest method for promoting active learning is reverse teaching. please have a look at this site for more details: Flipped Teaching - Teaching and Learning - University of Saskatchewan (usask.ca)
If students have been trained in very passive and traditional learning methods, they will find it difficult to switch to a different mental model of what education is. In these circumstances, it is important for them to know why the change is necessary and what the benefits will be for them. They will need a lot of emotional support because you will be asking them to abandon learning strategies that have previously brought them success and adopt knew ones that are full of risk and uncertainty. Basically, you will have to work twice as hard to prepare materials and guide them through the change. Support from your colleagues will also be crucial.
