Hi,

There are many algorithms aiming at estimating near-real sowing date for field crops mostly based on temperature and precipitation, and sometimes, soil moisture. But I am not sure which one are closer to real actions of farmers. I would like to know how farmers practice (with regard to precipitation and soil moisture). How many days after precipitation they usually start sowing? On what variable is this dependent on more; work-ability or optimum soil moisture for germination? Is this realistic to put the sowing date on a wet day or after a day with heavy rainfall? What algorithms do you suggest to estimate sowing date for a continental-scale study?
