The narrow monoculture with dependence on inputs puts the system in a precarious situation of requiring more and more inputs and getting diminishing returns on the inputs.

Step one is to lose the obligated use of monocultures and work out rotations which will reduce the need for inputs.

From the focus on just inputs and monodculture the idea is to look to switching to biological and local inputs and use biological diversity as part and parcel of the system.

Finally the production system cropping and animal should focus on improving the soil as a monitor and indication of the system effectiveness.

The measurement of system results need to encompass the effect on crop health and the diets generated by the systems.

The majority of the world population suffers from an array of diet insufficiencies and over sufficiencies which can relate to impoverished soils and mixtures of practices with do not optimize the yield quality economics and energy returns and do not counteract environmental and climate issues.

More synergistic symbiotic holism is needed.

Good agricultura practices should be adopted more and more focus should be done on agroecology for long term sustainability.

The outbreak of pests, fungal pathogens, and abiotic tensions threatened food production, too. Therefore, innovation in agricultural practices is needed to overcome the challenges of food systems.

To do this, current breeding systems should be updated, and agronomists and plant breeders should expedite fast breeding methods to enhance the production of food products.

Indeed, public education is another matter that should be considered in the legislation of food policies because the culture of correct use of foods has not yet been optimized worldwide, and we can see many people waste food products. In contrast, others in less-developed countries markedly demand sustainable foodstuffs.

Publishing more and more papers on food systems without considering the practical aspects of these publications, indeed, cannot support the sustainable production of agricultural products and foods. Therefore, to improve food systems, academic researchers should know how their studies can help human societies to prevent food waste and which methods can be used to improve the production of safe and accessible foods by considering the upcoming climate changes.

Modernizing food storage systems is another issue to improve the efficacy of food systems. Unfortunately, less developed countries have no strict regulations to regularly monitor food storage sites to prevent food contamination and food waste. Therefore, in such countries, people might be affected by the shortage of healthy foods in the near future.
