I have a few polyurea samples and I need to determine the crosslink density. Unfortunately the samples arrived with a lot of air bubbles thus mechanical analysis and swelling is not an option. The Tg of the sample is approximately 55 C. Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Dear Gwendorlene, you could make small pieces of polyurea with a defined volume, weigh them and put them in acetone, they will swell and turn soft, but not thacky (would mean solvent attack), after a few days take them out and leave them to dry. The shrinkage will become visible. When completely dry youn can weigh them and determine volume. Before the test the samples float on water, after the test they will sink. A sample without pigments turns transparent when the air is out.
