How can we calculate Microvessel density through software of a scanning electron microscopy picture of rat mammary gland tissue?

This image corresponds to rat mammary gland tissue in case of estrogen receptor positive breast cancer (induced by 47 mg/kg MNU single tail vein injection). How can we calculate the microvessel density through software.

That's a nice image. However, it might not give discriminating identities of mammary ducts from microvessels. If you have archived tissue, I would recommend a CD31 IHC for counting microvessel density. Please see figure 4 of the following link for more details.
