This has been a major problem in the global south as most research and PhD studentship is predetermined by the global north. This is one aspect we must focus on now. Thank you for this topic.

As a first-generation college student, I contend that universities have a major role to play in enabling people to climb the ladder and to support the communities that they serve.

Thank you Dr Preeti Oza for this strategic question. First and foremost, there must be awareness and political support to move forward with this strategic project.

I think that the matter requires first and foremost awareness of the extent of the necessity to achieve sustainability in society, and from here the formation of special programs given to students to sensitize them and prepare them to be the bearers of this project on their shoulders. For this, specialties in this area must be opened for training in this component. After awareness and training, innovation must be encouraged in crystallizing ideas in the form of theses that bring about optimal planning to achieve sustainability at various levels.

I think any community will benefit greatly from the presence of an academic institution nearby. Universities nowadays are even more involved in maintaining and promoting local cultures and heritages as well as developing good environmental habits. Academic institutes are acting as a preservers and protectors as well as educating people about the importance of preservation.

Dear Preeti, this is a good question. I would suggest that we must focus on what our students really need -- first and foremost. Stay well.
