If there was no big bang, how can we explain that the universe has such low metallicity? and how can we explain the age of the universe as determined from U decay??

I'm very surprised of your question, which remind me to the cosmology of many years ago (steady state, "ingenuous" de Sitter universe and so on). Have you a reference of Ali and Das?

Thier work is highly speculative and depends to a large extent on the Bohmian version of QM. So I don't think there is anything serious to worry about. The Big Bang is the very best of many thinkers over many years of thinking..end of story ..for now!
