I am interested in identifying literature that discusses the role of sabbaticals in organisational innovation and change. Much of the literature on this topic seems to focus on using sabbaticals to re-energise managers who are 'burned out' or to 'park' surplus employees during periods of reduced demand. What evidence is there about how sabbaticals can help managers who are not 'burned out' or surplus but who need new knowledge and skills to become effective leaders of organisational innovation and change?
