I am trying to begin a study to evaluate tooth wear rates in Peromyscus due to grit and phytoliths. Anyone have any suggestions for capture, breeding, cage sizes, dealing with UCUCA issues?
I kept Peromyscus for two years while in Nova Scotia. We kept them in both small (30x30x40cm) cages and large colonies in big cages (100x100x150). They were on woodshavings and were fed the same rodent chow as the rats and mice. They also liked meal worms from time to time.
I know of the USC stock and have been in contact with them. P. maniculatus, P. eremicus, P. crinitus and P. truei are the species, in that order, that I'm most interested in.
