For example, the dependent variables are disease and no disease.
The independent variables are educational groups :
Primary education level = 0.38 AOR, (significant)
Tertiary education level = reference
What is the interpretation of an AOR less than one, which is = 0.38 ?
An AOR < 1 indicates a lower odds of the outcome occurring in the group of interest relative to the reference group (after adjusting for other variables in the model). In your case, people with primary education have 1 -.38 = 62% lower odds of having the disease compared to those with tertiary education
But most of answer was 1– 0.38 = 0.62 %, and as I think this is a percentage not an Odds ratio.
What about using of 1÷0.38 = 2.65 Odd less disease than tertiery education.
Is this is correct or not ?
1-0.38 = 0.62 = 62% -> 62% lower odds of disease compared to tertiary education.
For the reciprocal of the odds ratio 1/0.38 = 2.63 -> the odds of disease in the tertiary education group are 2.63 times higher than in the primary education group. So you have two ways of phrasing this,
1) Primary education is associated with 62% lower odds of disease compared to tertiary education
2) Tertiary education is associated with 2.63 times higher odds of disease compared to primary education
