Hi everybody, I have a question about calculating the sample size with the software. There is various software such as GPower and NCSS. PASS in this area. which one is better? Can anyone guide me? For example; how can I work with NCSS. PASS software? Thanks

I think that PASS is more accurate than Gpower, beacause it needs to means of groups according pilot study or reseach literature for depended variable(s).

There is many any statistical package that have functions for sample size estimation. Someone already recommended R statistical package. R is free and coding is very straight-forward. The "PWR" is the easiest one to use for rudimentary power analysis in R, although there are a couple of others available.
G*power is really nice if you want to add graphics (I use G*power). It gives you a nice representation of how your 1-b increases with the changes in your sample size. G*power is been built based on Cohen power for sampling.
Moreover, G*Power can determine effect size if it cannot be estimated from prior literature or is not easily calculable.
