Currently I am working on Grid connected PV-Inverter. In this circuit, i am trying to control error voltage of DC link voltage and also the q-axis component of inverter. So, i had to use two different PI controllers. So, the loop becomes very complicated, and i am unable to find the transfer function of the system. So, i am using Ziegler-Nichols Method, so that i don't have to find the system transfer function. But, as there are multiple PI controllers, i feel confused how to use Ziegler-Nichols Method in this case.

If you are working with a standard three-phase inverter, one usually can decouple d and q axis with a simple scheme (see the fig.). Thus, you can tune the PI controllers as usual using a SISO approach.

Just as an update to my previous answer, in this paper we managed to implement PI controllers using a robust tuning approach. Maybe it would help. Codes are available to reproduce all presented results.
