Hello everybody. I want to define contact conditions between a seal rubber gasket and the side part of a car in Abaqus. The initial geometry I have received contains two instances (seal rubber and side part), that intersect each other. The overlap between the two instances describes the pre-stress of the rubber. My question is, whether it is possible Abaqus, after defining the surface to surface contact between the two intersecting instances, to detect the contact area itself and move the parts properly to the contact surfaces ,modelling by this way the pre-stress of the seal without having to translate the instances myself, before defining any kind of boundary conditions (e.g. displacements).
