I've been learning GIS. I use arcGIS for all my practical exercises. I want to have a profile for smallholder maize farmers within a selected area and also to map their land area using GIS.
How can I best go about this and what will it take?.

I agree with the suggestions mentionned above qhich are the easiest method but i want to advise you that by doing that you have to take care of the date of the imagery use as basemap
If you use arcgis imagery, it is a composite which means that it is a mosaic of different scene take at different time (year, months, day, etc). You have to find the metadata and read about it carefully to verify
One another alternative is to use google earth but depending on your study area recent image can be not available but you have the ability here to do an historic research of images
one another metho is to freely register to goole earth engine and use google earth engine explorer to navigate between differnt image of your study area, then save the image and georefenced it using arcgis
Do you care about changes in land use and cadaster? Or do you need only recent imagery to map?
