Dear All, I have prepared graphene nanoballs using carbon segregation process. I need to surface coat the nanoballs with mussel inspired hydrophobic polydopamine layer. In most of the literaure, discussions have been made on formation of rGO/Pda nanocomposite where graphene oxide is reduced to rGO in presence of dopamine and subsequent formation of nanocomposite take place. In my work, I need only to surface coat the graphene nanoballs through self polymerization process so that a layer by layer structure of graphene and polydopamine. I also need the experimental process and concerning chemical parameters.

Possibly alternate coating procedure using PVP to first adsorb on the few remaining OH-sites on the graphene that are negatively charged, dislocations, edges, etc. Polyvinylpyrrolidone, I guess, would make your dopamine stick even better than on GO.
