Hello, I have suggested few suggestions which came in my mind to stimulate appetite, however these are based on my theoretical knowledge. Please weigh in with other experts, research labs, supervisors, colleagues and others to implement any of the plans. These are just few suggestions which came in my mind when I read your question,
1.The use of inhibitors of glucose metabolism, ie targeting enzymes of glycolysis (hexokinase/ glucokinase, phosphofructokinase, pyruvate dehydrogenase) can force the animals metabolism to rely on other metabolism such as that of lipids or protein.
2.Genetic or epigenetic modifications of SERBP-1 protein (master regulator of lipid metabolism) to increase reliance on lipid metabolism can be helpful
Increased reliance on lipid metabolism may be essential in stimulating appetite as lipid metabolism consumes more energy as compared to glucose metabolism, also lipid metabolism produces more energy (of course with negative effects such as increased ROS and inflammation)
