in the attachment, the author didn't present the crack pattern, the presentation is the tensile damage in the concrete (DAMAGET).

If you would like to present the crack pattern, you should to chose PE with SYMBOLE

Hi Fadli,

The crack pattern can not be visualized using ABAQUS. You may select tensile damage or the max principal strain to track concrete cracking.

Plotting the strains would be a relatively good representation of damage pattern, because damage occurs normally where the strains are localized.

Have you tried reducing the element size?

As I see your damage pattern is not convenient for a RC beam. You might have something wrong with modeling your reinforcement. You can use the Embedded region as a constrain to fully couple your reinforcement with the concrete.

Some points about your model.

1-You don't need to create every reinforcement bar in Part. If they are similar you can create one and create instances in assembly module

2-You are using N, mm as your units. For the cross section of your reinforcement I see the value of 1 which does not make sense.

3-Your mesh in x direction seems to be so fine. It increases cost of calculation.

It is in the module "Section".  You have defined a beam/truss section for your reinforcement. The corresponding cross section is 1 mm2 and it is the automatic value from ABAQUS and is of course too low.

Hi Fadli

Having a quick look on the input file I have few suggestions for you:

You have only given 0.1mm displacement loading, if you have allready increased it thats well n good.

Secondly to get the full plastic strain and damage pattern you should provide full stress strain data for both compression and tension with corresponding values of damage parameter and inelastic strains. The present file only had 2 data readings, which seem to be not sufficient.

Defining the displacement loading of some bigger increment you probably need to define the amplitude as well.

Finally when you will try to run your analysis it will get some convergence problems and to deal with that you need to define some visco plastic regularization parameter which is again mesh and amplitude dependent.

Further i recommend you to start with coarse mesh to reduce computation time and once you get approximate results then shift to finer mesh to get the exact analysis.

Regarding the same problems with Mr. Fadli. It's been stated in the Abaqus manual that, visualisation of crack direction can be viewed from PE Max field output. But I have also come across some papers showing the crack pattern in concrete using PEEQT results.

So I'm a bit confuse over here which one should I use for crack visualisation?

How can i appear the results of pre-stressing concrete column ?

(after i defined the stress in predifiened fields at the initial step) the stresses do'nt appear in the result like Mises or S11 etc...???
