I am getting a problem or for some how missing a point during my experiment which is not clicking in my mind please help me out.
I am setting sine wave on function generator but oscilloscope is showing square wave.
i want to set 1 Vp-p 1Khz sine wave on the oscilloscope but oscilloscope is showing square wave with 5 Vp-p.
Looking forward for your suggestions.

Could 1 or more set up issues. Some things you can double check- use the calibration output on the scope (generally a square wave) to check the probe and scope settings and confirm the measurement matches the calibration signal.. The probe could be divide by 10 and the scope assume divide by 1. Check the settings for termination - you might have 50 ohm termination set incorrectly, On some scopes you could have AC couple assumed but DC coupling with DC offset used that clips the signal is possible (not likely). Most likely the issue is with the generator. Try setting the generator output lower until you see a sine wave.
First, you try to check impedance of probe. If both are matching then try to recheck function generator setting. Also keep oscilloscope in auto mode so that it can adjust waveform accordingly. If problem still exists then it must be problem of function generator itself.
it is possible that you are taking signal from synchronization signal , you must control the other oscilloscope signal outputs.
Is it possible that you have swapped the signal output with the trigger output of the generator?
