I am proposing an experiment to incubate soil under various temperature treatment to reflect Temperature fluctuation at various temperature steps without using environmental chambers or oven.

Without using environmental chambers or oven or incubator, It is very difficalt to maintain the temperature to nearest 1 degree of centigrade.
SometimeI for your experiment, it is important to maintain moisture level also.

1) Get a programmable home thermostat!
The small electronic device that control home heating system.
They are usually programmable over the 24h, sometimes even weekly, and should do your job. I'll say cost 30$.
Oh you need an electric heater also, and close all in a container.
Basically you are building a cheap environmental chamber.
