None can prepare a saline soil as such. You need to collect a saline soil, test for its properties in the laboratory and use for your research to get meaningful results of practical utility.
Whereas, addition of salt like sodium chloride or any other salt to a sand or soil, can never get you a natural saline soil. It only becomes an artificial saline medium. With this, you need to decide whether you conduct research with natural or artificial saline soil.
