The phonon dispersion of 2D materials always exhibit a u-shape imaginary Frequency. Why？How can I plot the energy of the system as a function of the phonon eigendisplacement？

You can plot in one axis the real part, in the other the imaginary part.
It does not matter if it is a point or an interval discrete or continuous interval.
Then you have to understand what you are plotting, it could we damping for example. That is the most important part, after a difficult numerical calculation.

Yes, we plot the real and imaginary parts of the zero elastic scattering cross-section.
In the OY axis we plot the imaginary part, and in the 0X axis we plot the real part.
By doing this, we obtain a probabilistic distribution that resembles the Wigner Ville distribution [1].
It is not the same, since they obey different equations, but we use the plots and can infer several macroscopic properties in some compounds.
Imaginary numbers remind us about damping, damping in a wave function or in a distribution function. real number remind us about energy.
