I want to study the sorption of polymers (e.g. PAM) on clay particles. I'm thinking of a classical batch sorption experiment with TOC analyses afterwards.
Any other suggestions or experiences with that?

NMR relaxometry may work (well) as the relaxation times should be different bewteen bound and free states.
This is a very interesting point!!!! I also thought about that, maybe it is worth to try it^^
dynamic via static adsorption might give different results. You have to be aware that you equilibrate with a mixture of homologs. Therefore result should depend also on ratio solid/liquid. Further equilibration may take a long time due to slow conformation changes in the adsorbed layer. UV at close to 190 nm should also work.
In brief:
Be sure to do batch experiments long enough to reach equilibrium. I also advise to do column experiments to get break-through curves.
