How can I optimize laminates of sandwich under 3-point bending tests?

In laminates, the layers which undergo the strongest tensile and compression effects are the outermost layers. So, their mechanical properties are more important than the middle layer. And if the direction of the flexural load is fixed, one of the outermost layers will undergo compression and the other outermost layer will endure tensile effect. So you may design each layer accordingly.
Delamination is another problem encountered due to different responses of the individual layers against flexural load. You may think of using 3D textile reinforced composites, where individual layers of reinforement are bonded by z-fibers/tows.
