"Laser absorption" - you should specify wavelength of laser at first, IMHO
AS A.Rogoza said. at first you should specify the wavelength beside the intensity. there are two phenomena in light absorption associate with laser: Linear and non linear absorption. anyway, you can use any uv-visible device to measure absorption and transmission and calculate refractive index n then calculate reflection theoretically. there are some devices have accessory to measure n (like Lambda 9 perkin Elmer). also you can use your set up consist of desired laser or light source and light power meter and optical bench, it is simple you may found this set up in any optics lab. and the details is available in different sites.
its look like for GaAs laser. Is your SiC as a film, powder or bulk or suspention ? you need a senstive light (laser)powermeter. then you measure the intensity with no material say Ii then measure the tansmitted intesity (transmitted from SiC) say It. the transmitance T is It/Ii ana by tilting the source a small angle (not normal) you can measure the reflected intensity Ir. The reflection R is Ir/Ii .By sutracting R from T which represent the absorption. taking Log of the inverse latter quantity repesents the absorbance.

I will assume that you have a solid sample (powder) of silicon carbide and you want to pump it with a CW laser tuned around 1064 nm.
In my opinion the best solution to measure both absorption and reflectance spectra from your sample, is to use spectroscopic method called Diffuse Reflection Method (DRM).
I have attached a paper called "Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy of powders", which uses the DRM with the SiC!
You can also search on-line for the phrase "ABC's of the Diffuse Reflection Method" which probably will appear a link to a Shimadzu website, with a simple explanation about the DRM.
