You can make slurry of Silica or Alumina with nanoparticle by dispersing nanofiller in small amount of appreciate solvent like ethanol by using ultrasonication and add Silica or alumina and again sonicate for 15 min and flux it via rotavapour to get slurry.
Simply mixing the silica or alumina in a solvent sometimes may not give a stable slurry. Because it largely related to the surface tension and wettability. So it is advisable to use a stabilizing agent such as Tween 20 or Tween 80 etc. Reports also says that rather than a single solvent mixture of 2 solvents such as Xylene+ethanol or similar combinations works better. Literatures says that this particular solvent mixture is one of the most convenient combination.
Rimpa Jaiswal Ma'am, is it possible to make aqueous alumina slurry using particles having a size range of 1 to 50 microns? Is there any other way that you know of which doesn't involve ultrasonication?
