Actually I have tried many times but when I dissolve Bi(NO3) 3 in distilled water it forms precipitates of sub-nitrates. I also tried to make solution by adding 3ml of HCl, in this time Bi(NO3) 3 is dissolved and clear solution is formed but pH goes to 1.
Dear Affan, precipitation have a reason of salt's hydrolysis ( Bi(OH)3 is a week base, HNO3 is strong acid). It can be a trick to add some drops of HNO3 till pH=3 with constant pH control ( it it useful to use some automatic titrator or automatic burette), or add HCl if it is not hinder to electrodeposition. Adding of salt it is better to do with pH control (add a salt, measure, add acid). Good luck!
Dear Affan, I do not know why you take as granted the use of ( Bi(OH)3 !!! : this is a too simple route, but you cannoot pre-control pH !!!.
A smart alternative is to use ATOMIC BISMUTH (we could have it some years ago -UNSPSC Code 30000000- with 99% purety) as precursor...
action of HNO3 on atomic Bismuth gives your targetet compound WITH A MAJOR ADVANTAGE : controlling the pH via Bi /HNO3 stoechiometry !!!!
(i. e. if you use ATOMIC BISMUTH IN EXCESS, the pH is about 6.5 !!!!)

The bismuth nitrate solution will be obtained in hydrochloric acid and with the presence of sodium citrate between pH 3-4.

I think the problem is definitively solved by using ATOMIC BISMUTH action of HNO3 !!!! for sure , the final pH is beyond 3 , I experienced it once !!!!)

I tried to prepare Bi2S3 vertically aligned on ZnO NRs by hydrothermal method and my starting materials are Bi(NO3)3.H2O and thiourea but I faced the problem of dissolving bismuth nitrate in DI water, could you advice me to overcome this problem?
