Could you please help me to figure out the differences between GIWAXS and GISAXS. There are so many references about GISAXS but no many about GIWAXS and the interpretation of the data. Would you introduce me some books or papers to understand the GIWAXS technique? Thank you!
GIWAXS would be the same as WAXS except that the incident angle is acute and small. This position of the specimen surface at a shallow incidence angle to the incoming X-ray beam would reduce the penetration depth due to the geometry involved. Thus, the resulting WAXS scan (theta-2theta or 2theta-theta) of a poly crystalline specimen would provide Nano structural details of the top (thin) layer. I'll post a link that will allow you to compute the "penetration depth" (attenuation depth) based on composition and incidence angle.
