Dear all,

I am using Caco2 cells to study intestinal permeability of natural products. Caco2 cells does not express CYP3A4, which is important for first pass metabolism and can hence influence bioavailability.

I found some literature reporting the induction of CYP3A4 expression in Caco2 cells by treatment with 1-alpha,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3.

However, 1-alpha,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 is very expensive, so I am searching for cheaper solutions (i.e. other Vitamin D receptor agonists), but I can't find much literature about.

Does anyone have experience in CYP3A4 induction with VDR agonists? Are there other alternatives?

Thanks for your kind consideration.
