I am trying to segment a specific region in an image. I am able to achieve good segmentation results. After segmentation I wanted to create a square incorporating the whole segmented area. How should I go about? Please suggest with some reference materials or codes.

A simple way to do this without any extra toolboxes:
Assume "segmentedImage" is your segmented image and "segVal" is the label of the segmented region of interest.
[m,n] = find( segmentedImage == segValue );
topM = min( m );
bottomM = max( m );
leftN = min( n );
rightN = max( n );
This will give you the corners of your bounding box. A mask could then be created as follows:
segMask = zeros( size( segmentedImage ), 'single' );
segMask( topM:bottomM, leftN:rightN ) = 1;
For a logical mask you could replace the first line with:
segMask = ( zeros( size( segmentedImage ) ) == 1 );
If you are looking for a bounding box that encloses the segmented region then you can simply use the regionprops function in Matlab.
if you are looking for a binary mask just set points inside the segment to one. if u want the actual image within the segment multiply (pointwise)the image with the binary mask.
