During Tensile test of Ni, I noticed that uniform elongation occurs till the brittle failure under the strain rate of 0.08 for 200 picoseconds under NPT conditions, So If I need to hold the specimen using Gripping at the ends, what are precautions to be taken care of?
hello Rohith Polisetty, the Major Problem is to introduce stress concentrations by such gripping or Holding devices / methods. You get rid of such effects by using PBC's but you obtain highly idealized / theoretical Crystal strength. Otherwise it might be advisable to apply larger cross-section Transition regions, to avoid holder / gripper effects. The are surely also other methods liek applying more degree of freedoms to the gripping elements / Atoms to reduce the unappreciated straining and hence stress concentration at them.

yes thank you Mr Rüdiger Rentsch. since I used PBC i think i no longer need any such gripping (I don't want any stress concentrations at the end of the specimen )
