I am trying to calculate a needed torque value to rotate a basic propeller system. The reason that i am building this is to use as a simplified version of the real system. And i am stuck at the drag portion the calculation. So basically my question is that, how can i calculate the torque needed for a propeller with the specified rpm in a pool of known fluid? If you can provide links, books or papers i would appreciate it.
The following may help:
Shaft power = Q x DP x efficiency
The torque = Shaft power / rotational frequency
Q is the volumetric flow rate, DP is the pressure drop. Assume 80% efficiency
