I am working on Laterally loaded piles in Plaxis 3D. I want to calculate the soil reaction to generate P-Y curves. I have find out that it can be done with resolving normal stress and horizontal shear stress in the X direction (in the direction of loading). But How can I get the angle of stress points with respect to X direction?
The generalised p-y method has no way of incorporating the specific form of the traction around a laterally loaded pile so the first question is why incorporate these details, to what purpose? There needs to be more information on how the pile to soil interface is modelled, assuming that the beam element approach is not being used.
