I have some salt solution analysis.
I want to know is there any software to estimate the scale deposition thickness in a specific time period on a metal plate at a known temperature (like a stainless steel heat exchanger)
I want to predict the scaling thickness in evaporative and non-evaporative condition.

You could treat the growing deposit of mineral onto the plate as a classical pipeline accident (or singularity) of the type “sudden decrease in flow cross section”. The pressure drop of these accidents can be predicted with correlations involving an empirical dimenssionless constant called “resistance coefficient (K)”, which varies from accident to accident, and is related to the accident geometry. So, if you monitor the pressure drop in your flow system, you could use the proper correlation to estimate K and with the K relation to the accident geometry you could, perhaps, estimate the thickness of the mineral deposit. It looks as if the geometry you are referring to is square or rectangular. This would require the use of the concept of “hydraulic diameter” of pipes. Mind you, this would give a rough estimate! Take a look at basic Fluid Mechanics textbooks.
Hi dear Steffen, I propose ANSYS FLUENT PORTFOLIO software, but I think it can be simulated in MATLAB too.
Depending on the geometry, the x-ray source and the material you want to analyze you might be below the lower limit of detection for your setup. you can use spectroscopic ellipsometry and by choosing the convenient model and get the best fit you will find the layer`s thickness you can tune the sensitivity to some extent by choosing a very shallow angle between sample and exciting beam (grazing incidence XRF mode). Grazing incidence X-ray fluorescence (GIXRF) in combination with X-ray reflectometry (XRR) can significantly contribute to the characterization of Nano scaled samples by improved modeling of the X-ray standing wave (XSW) field induced by the incident X-rays. Ellipsometry should work for your films as long as their thickness is lower than 100 nm.
