My Msc thesis was about bauxite in Iran. The colors of the hand sample is a key point. Light color ores are rich in Al (40-55%) and poor in Fe.Green ores are rich in Al (40 - 50) and medium to low Fe with predominent Fe2+. Red and brown ores are rich in Fe and medium Al (30 - 40%). But about Si value in this ore, you must carry out XRD and ICP because Si is in the quartz, chert and.... and in clay minerals. The Al is in bauxite minerals and in clay minerals. Thus, determination of the percentage of Al in bauxite minerals deserves normative study.
Seems that Pooria is an expert researcher in mentioned area and he cleared the visual criterion to find out approximate fraction of Al, accurate concentration of elements in ores could be obtained by Flame Photometry or Induction Coupled Plasma (ICP).
