I would like to know the percentage of Silica and Fe in river sand. I am a novice learner of AAS machine but i don't know how to prepare sample for digestion. Could anyone please help me how can i digest raw sand sample for testing in the AAS machine?

I am not an expert in AAS. However, there are 02 methods for silicates or silica dissolution. One is making a borate or bi-carbonate fused disk followed by dissolving in nitric acid. Other method involves digestion with HF acid which is considered to be hazardous.
I have similar question. How can I test silica by AAS? in what solution I must dissolve it and in what proportion? does anybody know?
