I want to culture rice field cyanobacteria (filamentous) in tank,as i need large amount of dry biomass of the organism. what type of nutritional supplement should i use. in lab it is growing in BG 11 (-N) medium. but what is the steps for faster growing of cyanobacteria, ( Nostoc, Anabaena, aulosira, haplosiphon, westiliopsis,calothrix, etc.)
I would also try to bubble the culture or at least provide some shaking. This will partially avoid the inorganic carbon limitation that would slow down growth (photosynthesis saturated)
There are couple factors majorly effect on growth of cyanobacteria, like plant, light, temperature, and suitable and available nitrogen and phosphate types and ratios to carbon source. The ratio can be estimate from stoichiometric equation for cyanobacteria or certain genus if there is available established metabolic pathway information. These papers might be useful for you.

continous shaking (either manual shaking 3-4 times/day or automatic shakers) is very essential to culture filamentous algae .Or else their will be improper nutrient and light circultion resulting in chlorosis of the culture.
You can grow on the Modified Watanabe medium (El –Nawawy et al., 1958):
K2HPO4 0.30 g
MgSO4.7H2O 0.20 g
K2SO4 0.20 g
CaCO3 0.10 g
Glucose 2.00 g
FeCl3 1% (freshly prepared) 0.20 ml.
Microelements solution 1.00 ml.
Distilled water up to 1000 ml.
PH 7.50
The microelements solution:
H3BO3 2.80 g
MnCl2 1.80 g
ZnSO4.7H2O 0.22 g
CuSO4.5H2O 0.08 g
Molybdic acid 0.02 g
Distilled water 1000 ml
Cultures were incubated at 28-30 CO under continuous light, produced by florescent white bulbs of 120 cm length and fluorescence illumination (5500-6500 lux). The culture were incubated for 15 days in a temperature controlled (30 ± 0.5 Co) illuminated compartment having neon and ordinary lamps so as to simulate - as much as possible - the natural sunlight.
