I have calculated the drought indices at monthly basis for 30 years (1985-2015) and I have also collected annual crop yields for 10 years (2000-2010). The crop growing periods are from June to October. I want calculate the correlation coefficient (r) between drought indices and crop yield anomalies for the crop growing periods from June up to October like the sample given on the table below. How can I achieve this objective?

exactly in same scale with crop data
and use correlations in R or any softwar

Seems very simple. You need to reorganize your data first (see the template). You can see that you need to have each drought indices and crop growth anomaly in a separate column as shown in the template. After that, you can use any data analysis software to see the correlation.

Nigatu Mikiyas To determine the correlation between drought index and annual crop anomaly, you need to measure the those variables during the same year (s), right? Thus, you need to use those measurement during 2000-2010 for both drought index and annual crop anomaly, as Djamal Bengusmia suggested. See the example I did for 2000-2004 with random data.
Prof Mamerto Reyes thank you for your answer. your answer gave me a good clue but it doesn't match with the results what i showed you in doc. in your method, only one correlation coefficient is determined. but my question is, is that possible to determine correlation coefficient at each months using any statistical methods?

A regression is not suitable for the data. You need PERMANOVA or ANOVA :)
