I am making a self-programmed calculator with user defined function n calculations. The problem I am facing is that when I enter any string, it should show a user defined error instead of a language generated error. Please guide me if you know how to solve this problem!

When handling complex strings like I would expect, talking about "user defined functions", you should consider the usage of regular expressions. That would simplify both, data conversion and error handling.
