I am writing computer programs that emulate the human decision making process. As I am from an electronic engineering background I decided the language to use was C++ as it allows the programmer the greatest control over the program. I am using object-oriented techniques as this allows the program to evaluate words as well as numbers. That is to say that the program can analyse and evaluate words and groups of words before it makes a decision. In my opinion computer programs are not capable of adapting themselves to a situation or of making emotive responses based on intuition. Also for a program to respond to an input it has to know what a word or group of words mean. For a program to recognise and evaluate any input the programmer has to have written descriptions of what the words mean and how the program should evaluate them. This means that when the program asks a question it has to prompt the user for a response or it is very likely the user will input a word that the program doesn't recognise hence not be able to evaluate.

The amount of code required for a program to be able to recognise and evaluate even a 1000 words and phrases is huge and very time consuming to program. I would suggest you stay away from any work that attempts to relate neuro- science and AI as the way a human brain works is not relatable to how a computer chip functions. You would be better off reading up on psychology and decision making models and trying to convert them into computer code. This way you are writing programs that visually appear to be imitating/emulating human reactions. Try my articles below, they are both available from my research gate web page;
