I'm looking for the criteria to folllow in the following topic. I'm not looking for a recipe.
I have a 3,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid and Zn, Cu and Mg nitrate salts to make a MOF but the carboxylate only connect in a monodentate fashion instead of bidentate. Then I cannot form a cluster. Does anyone have a suggestion?

1:1 ligand metal, and solvents water/acetic acid, and just to be attached to one of the papers, it's 2:1 ligand:metal in DMF and acetic acid.

I have looked up some references and all data point to monodentate mode of chelation of the carboxylate. Maybe the SBU formed through this mode of chelation offers greater stability to the MOF. Do you know of any SBU that shows bidentate chelation with 3,5-PDC and the metal ions you suggested? Would a post synthetic modification with 3,5-PDC on a preformed MOF exhibiting bidentate chelation work?
I think that I do not make myself clear or I misunderstoond your answer but what I want is to form a cluster as SBU using the chelation mode of the carboxylic acid. Then, yes there are papers. Yes, again a post synthetic modification would be a good idea. However, Again, I would rather prefer a criteria to produce the bidentate mode of carboxylic acid, rather than a recipe.
