Hi
I am performing Failure Assessment for cracks near weld region.For calculating Fracture Ratio (Kr), SIF for Self Balancing Residual stress component is required.
Is there any methodology other than FE Analysis to determine SIF for the same?

To solve the problem described requires two steps:
Step 1 can be done by measuring the residual stresses in a physical specimen. Alternatively you can assume a stress distribution of high magnitude to give an inherently conservative result, without performing any measurements. 'Conservative' stress distributions used for this purpose are listed for common weld types in integrity assessment procedures such as BS:7910. Step 1 can also be achieved by using finite element modelling of the weld process to determine the residual stress field, but such models are difficult to perform, require extensive materials characterisation, and should be backed-up by an campaign of measurements. This is not a practical option for the majority of applications.
Step 2 can normally be achieved using the weight function method. This uses pre-calculated solutions for the SIF as a function of the prior residual stress along the crack length. See:

In cases where the geometry of the structure or crack is complicated and there is not a relevant weight function solution available, you may have to resort to the use of FEA to calculate the SIF from the residual stress distribution. However, this is not too difficult since it only requires elastic FEA.
