2) Clinical Waste Management: A Review on Important Factors in Clinical Waste Generation Rate .International Journal of Science and Technology , Volume 3 No.3, March 2013 Rahele Tabasi, Govindan Marthandan
Health-care waste (HCW) generation assessment is the first step in the continuing improvement of hospital medical waste management. The results could be used for planning, budgeting, cost controlling, and optimizing waste-management systems. It also provides an opportunity to compare with other hospitals.
HCW generation depends on numerous factors such as type of health care facilities (HCF), hospital specialization, available waste segregation options, seasonal variation, the number of hospital beds, and proportion of patients treated on a daily basis.
HCW quantities can be either assessed by direct measurements at the source, by the use of questionnaires, or by the direct use of hospitals weight records.
