i am implementing a maximum power point tracking circuit in simulink and i want to implement it on hardware. i need a voltage and current sensor to read the signals for the FPGA circuit. can anyone help me with a circuit design for the current sensor and voltage sensor circuits?
You can use a ship like the Texas Instrument INA226, their application notes explain well how-to design around it. This one is on an I2C bus (maybe difficult to "plug" on a fpga) but i guess you can find this kind of component with a SPI port instead of the I2C one.
i was thinking about implementing them using LM741 circuits. using a very small resistance to sense the current and a gain amplifier. i also considering to use a voltAGE DIVIDER. I HAVE THE COMPONENTS BUT I WANT TO KNOW THE BASIC SCIENCE FOR SUCH CIRCUITS
The main part is missing, you need an analog to digital converter. The advantage of an INA226 is that it "glues" all the parts you need in only one ship. If you want to make this functionality "by the hand", you'll need an handful knowledge in electronic, and depending on the precision/resolution you need, or measuring very low current/voltages, things become very complicated...
