Abit of a broad question, due to too many factors to look at. Every organisation is different and this affects their knowledge Management (KM) techniques, if any. I would say, a good place to start is to examine the organisational culture, and perhaps create or drive a Knowledge Management Strategy that talks to the culture of the organisation. Schein's Org Culture (1985) Theory is quite impressive in examining aspects such as cohesiveness and espoused values etc of organisations. once this is made more clear, then you can move on to the actual 'KM' part which involves ...people, processes and Technological systems. Also look at Frameworks such as Kogut and Zander KM Framework and this will describe how KM can lead to Efficient firms and competitive advantages. once knowledge processes are established, it should be governed by appropriate KM technology such as Datamining, dashboards, predictive analytics etc.
