It is about the content and storylines. The lenght is also counted to be another factor for my retention.
In the marketing and advertising literature, you will find description of numerous sub-groups of consumers in a same culture and various behaviours of those people according to many factors. It's complex and many theoretical models try to pin point the mane streams. The researchers in neurosciences contribute also to a better understanding of the cognitive processes involve in one hand, the decoding and interpretation of the ad and, in the other hand, the decision making and the behaviour to adopt.

Social media and traditional media (TV, Radio, Outdoor) can illicit the same responses from people if they are created and designed in alignment. Basically the message vehicles must all be the same and convey the same message. Both vehicles (TV, social media, viral video etc...) must use the same or highly similar visuals/audio. Think of your favorite soda (or whatever product you like). The google a television ad and social media ad. Look for similarities among them, these similarities will most likely create the same responses, different ones will create some cognitive dissonance in the target audience (people).
