I think this question should be answered by a Biochemistry student.
Biochemistry, being a very involving subject area, I think requires a two-way method involving the teacher and the learner. The learners on their part have to be teachable - having met all requirements of admission and taken all pre-requisite courses in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Use of English amongst others at the 100 level. then, they have to be ready to fill in the gaps as most topics require the students to do additional readings to acquire full details of most topics.
I have said earlier that this question should better be answered by students of biochemistry because they know what they expect from teachers and what they get instead.
Tell us how should we teach you? as I am one of the teachers.
However, in order to respond to a directed question from Segun Modupe, I think the teacher of biochemistry should :-
1. Always prepare for his/ her lessons very well and have a summarized but fully encompassing note prepared by him and not come to the class with a textbook to read out to the students.
2. there are a lot of helpful slides on the internet that can be adopted in the illustration and teaching of biochemistry subjects nowadays. the teacher could use these but with full explanation offered by the teacher as he uses the slides.
3. the teacher should himself show a mastery of his subject matters as this will generate resonate interests in the students.
4. the teacher should try to make his class interactive and not provide all information but help guide students to acquire more knowledge through assignments and impromptu tests.
The above-listed are only some of the ways and not exhaustive yet.
