I think it is about due time that the human population started to feel the ecological repercussions of overpopulation that is a crash in numbers. Somehow, our populations continue to rise. Carrying capacity may be lowered if the environment from which we obtain our resources is continuously degraded. I suspect that perhaps the opposite may be true or perhaps technological and scientific advances have allowed us to exploit Earth's resources in ways that have allowed us to reach such massive population sizes.
