I am looking at how soil properties and their responses to climate change affect forest cover. I think that in snow-dominated watersheds, the changes in snow dynamics have a great deal of influence over this. I'm wondering if hydrologists in snow-dominated regions are observing changes in overland flow and/or soil moisture in the growing season in connection with changes in snowpack and/or snowmelt timing. I'm especially interested in the northern Rocky Mountains regions, but any other observations or studies would be helpful.
